Description
Stop At: The Singleton Distillery, Glen Ord Distillery, Inverness, Muir of Ord IV67UJ
Fantastic place to visit: Glen Ord - Singleton is a creation of the modern, 21st-century age of single malt – a determined effort by owner Diageo to create a brand vehicle to take on the might of Glenfiddich and The Glenlivet.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Glenmorangie Distillery, on the A9, Ross-shire, Scottish Highlands IV191PZ
A superb location and great staff. Currently celebrating the 175th anniversary of its founding in the Highland town of Tain, Glenmorangie was one of the pioneers of the modern malt boom – but was already marketing itself as a single malt back in the Victorian age.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Blair Athol Distillery, Perth Road, Pitlochry PH165LY
Situated in Pitlochry, the Perthshire town at the gateway to the Highlands, this distillery produces malt whisky that is added to the famous Bell’s blend, as well as a small selection of single malt bottles. The tour is engaging and well thought out, with the expert guides capable of answering even the most complex of questions.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Dalwhinnie Distillery, Dalwhinnie PH191AA
Visitors to Dalwhinnie get an unusual opportunity to do tastings not only of the distillery’s own single malt but of other whiskies that are paired with chocolate from the Scottish Highlands. Being in the Highlands it’s one of the highest distilleries in Scotland, though the water comes from a branch of the River Spey: the whisky river.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Edradour Distillery, Pitlochry PH165JP
Beautiful distillery. Based in Perthshire, Edradour only produces twelve casks a week and is the smallest traditional distillery in Scotland. For that reason its tours (from April to October) are unique and very personal. It opened in 1825 as a farm distillery and still operates on that basis.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery, Aberfeldy Distillery A827, Aberfeldy PH152EB
A trip back in time at this outstanding distillery. Perth’s Tommy Dewar understood the power of marketing. A globetrotting brand ambassador before that title had really been established, in the early years of the 20th century Dewar enlisted Thomas Edison to direct a film commercial for his White Label blend. It’s possibly why Dewar’s remains among the best-selling blends in the US.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Deanston Distillery & Visitor Centre, Deanston Distillery Near Doune, Stirling FK166AG
A great tour stop! A steady supply of water doesn’t automatically lead to whisky production. In Deanston, it once meant textile manufacturing. Which is why this distillery wouldn’t look out of place along the Rochdale canal. A Richard Arkwright-designed textile mill, Deanston was transformed into a distillery in 1966. Thanks to the River Teith, the distillery, as with the mill before it, generates its own power. Tour guides point out the ghostly remains of what was claimed to be the largest waterwheel in Europe – now replaced by turbines. Deanston is the location for film director Ken Loach’s affectionate whisky romp, The Angel’s Share.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Oban Distillery, Oban Distillery Stafford Street, Oban PA345NH
One of the best Highland malts. Squeezed between the coast and the cliff that separates the harbour from the suburbs above, the Oban distillery is a tight huddle of grey granite buildings. When the distillery was built in the 1790s, Oban was little more than a scatter of herring storehouses, but since then the busy port has grown around it. This pocket-size distillery’s tours offer a rare chance to sample a west-coast style (somewhere between a sweet Speysider and the smokey islands). When the drizzle descends, the lively dramming bar is the place to settle in and see it out before catching a ferry to recently reopened Tobermory distillery on Mull.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Glengoyne Distillery, Dumgoyne, Glasgow G639LB
Often described as "Scotland's Most Beautiful Distillery", Glengoyne is open all year for guided distillery tours, whisky tastings and special events. Just a short drive from Glasgow, Stirling and Loch Lomond, this traditional, hard working distillery has been flourishing since 1833. Glengoyne's range of in-depth distillery tours, whisky tasting sessions, private dining and unique hospitality includes the legendary Master Blender tour where guests create their very own individual whisky to take home.

Interesting
We had been to this distillery several times and each time the tour got better. Very informative. We were sad to hear they had sold out to another and hope the place does not close completely as it’s a good place to visit. Sadly when we were there the restaurant ran out of food…

General distillery tour
Our guide JJ did a great job explaining the processes so that the uninformed and the chemical engineers in our group all found it informative and entertaining.

Brilliant!
What a great , interesting, friendly, informal tour. Really nice humorous guide, friendly staff. Our daughters’ first time at a distillery and both thoroughly enjoyed the experience with the added bonus of handmade chocolates to taste as well. Delicious! Highly recommend a visit.

Stop At: Knockdhu Distillery, Knockdhu Distillery Managers House, Knock Village, Huntly AB547LJ
Excellent whisky and a great tour experience:
The Knockdhu distillery is a whisky distillery in Knock, Banffshire owned by Inver House Distillers Limited.
The distillery was founded in 1893 by John Morrison, who bought the land from the Duke of Fife to produce whisky for Haig's after several springs on the southern slope of Knock Hill were discovered.
Now known as a well respected single malt worldwide.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Balblair Distillery, Edderton IV191LB
A must stop when near to Inverness:
The whisky reflects Balblair and the people who have been there for generations. Created with pride and a dedication to excellence. A gentle, hands-on approach is what gives the whisky its distinctive character.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Ben Nevis Distillery, Lochy Bridge, Fort William PH336TJ
Lovely place to visit: Incorporated within Ben Nevis Distillery is The Legend of the Dew of Ben Nevis Visitor Centre, built into an old warehouse dating from 1862 and former bottling hall, which still retains some of its original features. You will encounter the mythical giant Hector McDram who will reveal the Legend of the Dew of Ben Nevis in a specially commissioned audio visual presentation.
After your experience with Hector, a conducted tour of the production areas by a trained guide concludes with a complementary 'tasting'.
After your tour around the distillery why not relax with a refreshment or if you are hungry, try some of our delicious home cooking in the coffee shop and restaurant. It will be an unforgetable treat.

The luxury malt of the north Highlands:

On one of Dalmore's intimate tours you will discover our exceptional Single Malt whisky that we have had the privilege to make since 1839.
The Dalmore Distillery is home to our collection of rare casks sourced from the world’s finest bodegas and wineries, that are essential to produce our legendary whisky.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Glen Garioch Distillery, Distillery Road, Oldmeldrum AB510ES
The Home of Glen Garioch
The little distillery sits right in the sheltered heart of the Valley of the Garioch, from which it takes its name.
Just 17 miles from Aberdeen in the very north-eastern tip of Scotland, Glen Garioch is the most easterly Scotch Whisky distillery not just in Scotland but the world. Precious few whisky travellers venture this far east in pursuit of the perfect dram, but those who do never turn back. Great to link in with Glendronach.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: The GlenDronach Distillery, Forgue By Huntly, Forgue AB546DB
A UNIQUE HERITAGE AND TRADITIONAL PAST
As was the case in 1826, The GlenDronach Distillery patiently matures its single malt whisky in superior quality sherry casks. Our distilling methods may be old-fashioned, but they prefer to look on them as handcrafted techniques created through nearly 200 years of tradition.
Over the years of extended maturation, their carefully seasoned casks help create the unique richly sherried style that The GlenDronach is famous for.
